Valencia Airport — operated by Aena as Aeropuerto de Valencia, also known as Manises Airport for the municipality that hosts it — is the main airport for Spain's third-largest city and one of the busier secondary airports on the Iberian peninsula. Located 8 km (5 mi) west of central Valencia at an elevation of 240 ft (73 m), VLC served 12.4M passengers in 2024, its busiest year on record, on the strength of a post-pandemic low-cost boom and the rise of Valencia as a European tech and digital-nomad destination. Ryanair is the largest operator, having designated Valencia as a base with multiple aircraft stationed overnight, followed by Vueling (its secondary Spanish hub after Barcelona El Prat), Iberia, Air Nostrum, EasyJet, and Transavia. In total 51 airlines serve 110 destinations across 182 scheduled routes. Network strength lies in point-to-point European leisure and business service — Paris, London, Rome, Milan, Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin, Zurich — complemented by connecting flights to the Madrid and Barcelona hubs and seasonal nonstops to North Africa. Long-haul connectivity is handled via Madrid and increasingly via Doha on Qatar Airways' daily Valencia–Doha service. The airport operates with a single 8,858 ft (2,700 m) asphalt runway (12/30), a single passenger terminal with regional, national, and international modules, and a dedicated business-aviation apron that has expanded significantly since Valencia was chosen as the 37th America's Cup venue. Aena has announced a mid-term capacity plan to raise processing capability to roughly 20M passengers with terminal-building expansions and new boarding gates, reflecting sustained double-digit growth and the city's role in hosting major events including Fallas and the annual Valencia Marathon.

Getting to the airport

Ground transport options from Valencia

Public transportation

Valencia is one of relatively few mid-sized European cities with direct metro at the airport. Metrovalencia lines 3 (Rafelbunyol–Aeroport) and 5 (Maritim–Aeroport) run from a station on the ground floor of the terminal to city-center stops Xativa and Colon in about 25 minutes for under 5 EUR. EMT bus route 150 (Metrobus) is a slower but cheaper alternative, stopping right outside T1 arrivals.

Taxis & rideshare

Official white metered taxis queue outside the arrivals hall 24/7. Fares to central Valencia run 20–25 EUR for a 20-minute trip, with a standard airport supplement applied on top of the meter. App-based ride-hailing through Cabify and Bolt is also available, with pickup points clearly signposted.

Rental cars

Ground-floor arrivals-hall desks for Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Sixt, and Goldcar cover the major global and Spanish low-cost operators. Advance online booking is strongly recommended during Fallas (March), summer peak, and America's Cup event windows, when fleet availability tightens sharply.
