Dalaman International Airport (DLM) is the principal aviation gateway to Turkey's Turquoise Coast, serving the resort markets of Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, Marmaris, Göcek, Dalyan and Sarıgerme. It is the third-largest leisure airport in Turkey after Antalya and İzmir and one of the most charter-heavy airports in Europe during the May–October peak, routinely handling more than 5 million passengers a year with annual seasonality swings of more than ten-to-one between summer and winter. DLM is operated by YDA Havalimanı İşletmesi under a long-term concession from the Turkish state. The airport sits on the Mediterranean coastal plain about 5 km (3 mi) south of Dalaman town, at an elevation of 20 ft (6 m). A single 9,842 ft (3,000 m) concrete runway (01/19) accommodates widebody charter operations including the Airbus A330 and Boeing 787. Two terminals separate international and domestic traffic: the modern international Terminal, opened in 2006 and later extended, covers approximately 150,000 m² with 12 boarding bridges, while the smaller domestic terminal handles Turkish Airlines and Pegasus shuttles. Combined design capacity is around 12 million passengers a year. Thirty-three airlines link DLM to 51 nonstop destinations, with Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, SunExpress, Corendon, Tailwind, TUI, easyJet, Jet2, Ryanair and a long list of Scandinavian, Polish and Czech charter brands driving outsized summer schedules. The United Kingdom alone accounts for more than a third of annual traffic in most years, and flights from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Scandinavia add layers of charter-heavy seasonal capacity. Domestic connections through Istanbul and Ankara feed onward long-haul service on Turkish Airlines, making DLM an unusually international-facing airport despite its predominantly leisure demand base (2025).

Getting to the airport

Ground transport options from Dalaman

Public transportation

HAVAŞ and the local MUTTAŞ municipal service operate scheduled shuttle buses from a covered stand outside international arrivals, with fares timed to flight banks. HAVAŞ buses run primarily to Fethiye (around 90 minutes) and Marmaris (around 90 minutes) for 300 to 400 TRY, while MUTTAŞ buses extend coverage to Köyceğiz, Ortaca and Dalyan for 100 to 200 TRY. There is no direct urban public bus into Dalaman town; a short taxi ride is required for connections from the town bus station.

Taxis & rideshare

Official taxi ranks operate 24/7 outside both the international and domestic arrivals halls, with a clear price board posted in arrivals. Indicative fixed fares are roughly 1,500 to 2,000 TRY to Fethiye, 2,000 to 2,800 TRY to Marmaris, 1,200 TRY to Göcek and 500 TRY to Dalaman town, with night surcharges. BiTaksi and iTaksi apps work at the airport and typically match kerbside pricing but offer fare transparency and card payment.

Rental cars

Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Sixt, Budget, Enterprise, Alamo and a long list of Turkish operators — including Economy Car Rentals, Circular and Garenta — maintain counters inside both arrivals halls, with vehicles collected from the dedicated rental lot a short walk across the forecourt. Pre-booking is strongly advised from May through September, when walk-up rates can triple. A home-country licence is accepted for stays up to six months, and all rentals include mandatory Turkish third-party insurance.
