Lublin Airport is the principal airport of the Lublin Voivodeship in eastern Poland, opened in December 2012 as Poland's first fully greenfield commercial airport built since the end of communism. Located at Świdnik, roughly 6 mi (10 km) southeast of central Lublin at 633 ft (193 m) elevation, the airport closed a substantial gap in Polish regional aviation by providing the first scheduled commercial service to eastern Poland — a region previously dependent on Warsaw Chopin (WAW) or Rzeszów (RZE). Its catchment of roughly 2.2 million people spans the Lublin, Chełm, Zamość, and Biała Podlaska regions, plus cross-border traffic from adjacent Ukraine and Belarus. The airport handles 13 routes across 11 destinations through 9 airlines. Wizz Air is the leading carrier and anchors the route network with services to London Luton, Dublin, Eindhoven, Brussels Charleroi, Oslo Torp, Stockholm Skavsta, Tel Aviv, and seasonal Mediterranean destinations. Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines, and several charter operators round out the schedule. The airport's growth has been driven by a combination of Polish-diaspora labor-market demand in the UK, Ireland, Germany, and Scandinavia, and the general redistribution of Polish air travel away from Warsaw as regional airports have expanded. The single asphalt-concrete runway 07/25 measures 8,202 ft (2,500 m), sufficient for all narrow-body jet operations. The modern terminal designed by ARE Stiasny/Wacławek architects has a declared annual capacity of approximately 1 million passengers. Lublin Airport has taken on additional operational significance since 2022 as a logistics support point for humanitarian and NATO-adjacent flows to Ukraine, given its proximity to the border — although these cargo and military movements largely occur outside the published scheduled-commercial activity.

Getting to the airport

Ground transport options from Lublin

Public transportation

The airport is served by a direct rail link to central Lublin, with a station connected to the terminal; the journey to Lublin Główny main station takes approximately 15 minutes. Public bus line 005 also connects the airport to the city center and main bus station, with a journey time of 30 to 40 minutes. Both are economical options with frequent daily service.

Taxis & rideshare

The official airport taxi operator Damel Taxi holds a dedicated rank directly in front of the terminal. The run into central Lublin takes 15 to 20 minutes. Payments can be made by cash or card; ride-hailing apps Bolt and Uber also operate in the Lublin market and often offer comparable pricing.

Rental cars

Major international agencies (Avis, Enterprise, Sixt) and Polish operators such as Panek maintain desks in the arrivals hall. Vehicles are collected from the nearby parking area. Advance booking is recommended during peak summer and holiday periods.
