Poznań-Ławica Airport is one of Poland's largest regional airports and the principal aviation gateway to the Greater Poland Voivodeship (Wielkopolskie), serving the Poznań metropolitan area's roughly 1.1M residents and drawing catchment from western Poland between Warsaw and Berlin. Located just 3.7 mi (6 km) west of Poznań city center at 308 ft (94 m) elevation, POZ is among the closest-in airports to its host city center in Poland. The airport handles 87 routes across 56 destinations through 20 airlines. Ławica is one of the oldest airports in Poland, with origins dating to German military aviation before 1918, and served as a key site during the Greater Poland Uprising of 1918–1919 that brought the region into the restored Polish state. Ryanair and Wizz Air together dominate POZ by departures, operating substantial bases serving Western European labor-migration markets and Mediterranean leisure destinations. LOT Polish Airlines runs the principal full-service connectivity via Warsaw with onward long-haul connections, plus selected direct service to Frankfurt and other European hubs. Additional service is provided by Lufthansa (Frankfurt, Munich), KLM (Amsterdam), Eurowings (Düsseldorf, Stuttgart), Norwegian, easyJet (seasonal), Transavia, TUI Poland, Enter Air, and Smartwings — with the charter carriers supporting significant Greek, Turkish, Spanish, Egyptian, and Tunisian summer-season leisure traffic. The network heavily serves Polish diaspora routes — Dublin, Cork, London–Stansted and Luton, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Eindhoven, Brussels-South Charleroi — reflecting the Greater Poland region's historical and ongoing emigration patterns. The airfield operates a single asphalt runway — 10/28 at 8,215 ft (2,504 m) — capable of full narrowbody and light widebody operations. The current passenger terminal (T1 and T2, connected) underwent major expansion in successive phases through the 2010s and 2020s. Poznań is the headquarters of the Volkswagen Poznań commercial vehicle plant, Allegro (Poland's largest e-commerce platform), and the Poznań International Fair — the largest trade-fair grounds in Central Europe — whose major expos drive significant business-travel volume through POZ, particularly for events including the Poznań Motor Show and ITM Industry trade shows.

Getting to the airport

Ground transport options from Poznań

Public transportation

POZ is connected to Poznań by public bus. Day Bus Line 159 is the main service, running to Poznań Główny (main railway station) in approximately 25 min with a fare of PLN 6 (EUR 1.40). Night service is provided by Line 222. Bus stops are located just outside the terminal. Tickets can be purchased at vending machines at the stop (cash or card), on the bus (contactless card only), or via the Mobilet, mPay, and jakdojade mobile apps. From Poznań Główny, onward rail connections serve Warsaw, Wrocław, Szczecin, and Berlin via direct EuroCity services.

Taxis & rideshare

Official airport taxi services are available 24/7 directly in front of the T3 arrivals hall with metered rates. Typical fares run PLN 40–60 (EUR 9–14) to central Poznań (15–20 min), PLN 60–90 to suburbs and the Poznań Fair grounds, and PLN 120–180 to surrounding Wielkopolska destinations. Uber and Bolt both operate at POZ with designated pickup areas and are typically 20–30% cheaper than rank taxis for shorter trips. Cash and card payment are accepted at the airport rank.

Rental cars

Several international and Polish car rental companies maintain desks in the arrivals hall. Major providers include Avis, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt, and Polish firms Panek, CityCar, and Rentis. Pre-booking online is advisable for better rates and guaranteed availability, particularly during the major Poznań International Fair events when rental demand spikes. The rental car park is located near the terminal. A valid EU or internationally recognized driver license and credit card are required. Direct highway access via the A2 eastbound to Warsaw and westbound to Berlin provides convenient onward travel across the German-Polish corridor.
