Getting to the airport
Ground transport options from Chengdu (Shuangliu)
Public transportation
Chengdu Metro Line 10 has stations at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, connecting to Line 3 at Taipingyuan and then to the broader urban network including downtown Tianfu Square (35–45 min; fare CNY 5–7). Trains run every 6–10 minutes from 06:00 to 23:00. The Shuangliu Airport Railway Station beneath T2 offers high-speed train services to regional destinations including Leshan (Giant Buddha), Emeishan, and onward to the broader Sichuan rail network. Airport shuttle buses from both terminals serve downtown hotels, railway stations, and nearby cities.
Taxis & rideshare
Official metered taxis queue 24/7 outside the arrivals halls at Terminal 1 (Gate 2) and Terminal 2 (Gates 4 and 5). Typical trips run CNY 60–90 to downtown Chengdu (40–60 min off-peak), CNY 120–180 to the far suburbs and Dujiangyan, and CNY 200–280 for transfers to Tianfu International Airport (TFU, 70 min). A 50% night surcharge applies 23:00–06:00. Didi Chuxing is the standard ride-hailing option with dedicated app-based pickup.
Rental cars
China Auto Rental (CAR Inc.), eHi Car Services, and Shenzhou Zuche have counters in the arrivals halls of both terminals; limited Avis and Hertz counters are also available. Foreign visitors must hold a valid Chinese driver's license — an International Driving Permit alone is not recognized in mainland China. The standard workaround is chauffeur-driven hire through the same providers or via hotel desks, typically running CNY 700–1,100 for an 8-hour day.
