Göteborg Landvetter Airport (GOT) is the second-busiest airport in Sweden after Stockholm Arlanda and the principal aviation gateway to western Sweden, serving Gothenburg — the country's second-largest city — and a catchment that includes Borås, Trollhättan, Jönköping, the Bohuslän coast and parts of southern Norway. It handles more than 5.5 million passengers a year and is a key Nordic freight node, anchoring west-coast exports of Volvo vehicles and forest products. GOT is operated by the state-owned Swedavia airport group. Landvetter sits in the forests of Härryda Municipality about 25 km (16 mi) southeast of central Gothenburg, at an elevation of 506 ft (154 m). A single 10,823 ft (3,300 m) asphalt runway (03/21) supports widebody operations and a substantial dedicated freight apron. The passenger terminal, opened in 1977 and progressively expanded, combines domestic, Schengen and non-Schengen processing under one roof with around 30 gates; an integrated Airport City development next to the terminal aims to add hotel, conference and logistics capacity over the late 2020s. Thirty-three airlines link GOT to 65 nonstop destinations, with SAS, Norwegian, TUI fly Nordic and Ryanair anchoring the carrier mix, and KLM, Lufthansa, Air France, British Airways, Turkish Airlines, Finnair and Qatar Airways providing European hub feed and onward long-haul. Seasonal charters to the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands, Thailand and the Caribbean add substantial peak capacity, while Swedish domestic trunks to Stockholm and the north support Volvo and Ericsson business traffic. GOT's combination of manufacturing-led business demand and Nordic leisure outbound keeps it firmly in the top rank of Scandinavian regional airports (2025).

Getting to the airport

Ground transport options from Göteborg

Public transportation

Flygbussarna (the Airport Coaches) run every 15 to 30 minutes between Landvetter and Gothenburg's Nils Ericson Terminalen next to Göteborg Central Station, with a 25- to 30-minute journey and fares around 135 SEK. Tickets can be bought online, in the Flygbussarna app, at machines on the platform or by contactless card on board. Flixbus, Vy Bus4You and seasonal coaches additionally connect Landvetter to Borås, Jönköping and Oslo. A proposed dedicated airport rail link (Götalandsbanan) is under planning but not yet operational.

Taxis & rideshare

Taxi Göteborg, Minitaxi, Sverigetaxi and several smaller Swedish operators queue directly outside arrivals 24/7. Sweden's deregulated taxi market requires drivers to display a yellow fare sticker on the rear window; it is strongly recommended to request a fixed price to central Gothenburg, which typically runs 500 to 650 SEK. Uber and Bolt are legal and collect from the same curb, generally in the same price range. All operators accept card and Swish payments.

Rental cars

Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt maintain offices and vehicle pickup points in the multi-storey car parks a short, clearly signposted walk from the terminal. Winter tyres are mandatory between December and March and are fitted to Landvetter fleets by default. An EU/EEA licence or International Driving Permit plus a credit card is required. Advance online booking is strongly advised during the summer leisure and autumn trade-show peaks.
