Zhengzhou Xinzheng International is the principal gateway to Henan province and one of mainland China's most strategically positioned aviation hubs — located within a 90-minute flight radius of the majority of China's population and at the geographic center of the country's high-speed rail network. CGO serves 128 direct destinations across 58 airlines and has grown into a major cargo facility, buoyed by Foxconn's Zhengzhou operation (the largest iPhone assembly complex in the world) that drives enormous freight volumes through a dedicated cargo apron. The airport's passenger operation is anchored by China Southern, Air China, and regional carriers serving domestic cities across the dense central Chinese network. International service has expanded steadily — including direct flights to Frankfurt, Dubai, Seoul, Singapore, and Tashkent — reflecting Zhengzhou's designation as a "national central city" and Henan's Belt-and-Road inland-port positioning. CGO is China's first cargo-focused integrated air-rail-road hub, with Lufthansa Cargo and Cargolux operating dedicated European freight rotations. Two parallel runways of 11,811 ft (3,600 m) and 11,155 ft (3,400 m) handle current operations, with a third runway under construction as part of the Phase III expansion targeting 80M annual passengers and 5M tonnes of cargo by 2030. CGO sits at 495 ft (151 m) elevation 37 km southeast of Zhengzhou on a purpose-built site in Xinzheng city. The terminal complex operates in two buildings (T1 legacy and T2 opened 2015), connected by the Ground Transportation Center that integrates metro, high-speed rail, and long-distance bus operations. The intercity railway link from Zhengzhou East Railway Station — a primary interchange on the Beijing–Guangzhou High-Speed Line — gives CGO direct rail connectivity to Xi'an, Wuhan, and Shanghai, making it a genuine multimodal hub rather than a standalone airport.

Getting to the airport

Ground transport options from Zhengzhou

Public transportation

The Chengjiao Line (Metro Line 2 extension) connects CGO's GTC to central Zhengzhou's subway network; total journey to Zhengzhou Railway Station is approximately 45 minutes for CNY 8, trains running every 10–15 minutes 06:00–22:30. The Zhengzhou Intercity Railway provides high-speed rail from the airport station to Zhengzhou Railway Station (18 min) and Zhengzhou East Railway Station (15 min) for CNY 18–30. Multiple airport shuttle bus routes serve Zhengzhou districts and neighboring Kaifeng, Luoyang, and Xuchang.

Taxis & rideshare

Official metered taxis queue 24/7 at designated stands outside the arrivals halls of both terminals. Downtown Zhengzhou typically runs CNY 100–140 in 40–60 minutes, including expressway tolls. Destinations written in Chinese are strongly advised, and licensed cabs are identified by roof signage and printed receipts from the meter. Didi Chuxing is the dominant ride-hailing option with dedicated pickup zones.

Rental cars

China Auto Rental (CAR), eHi Car Services, and Avis operate counters in the arrivals hall. A valid Chinese driver's license is required for self-driving — International Driving Permits are not recognized on mainland Chinese roads. Chauffeur-driven services are the common alternative for foreign visitors and can be booked through the same rental counters or via ride-hailing apps supporting multi-hour bookings.
