Ningbo Lishe International is the main airport for the industrial port city of Ningbo in Zhejiang Province, about 12 km (7.5 mi) southwest of the city center at an elevation of just 13 ft (4 m). Although overshadowed in global aviation visibility by Shanghai Pudong 200 km (124 mi) to the north, NGB serves one of the most economically productive metropolitan regions on earth: Ningbo-Zhoushan is the world's largest port by cargo tonnage, and the city's manufacturing and trading hinterland generates sustained premium business travel demand. The airport handled over 12M passengers in pre-pandemic peaks and has rebounded strongly on the strength of domestic tourism and corporate traffic. The route network spans 183 scheduled services across 35 airlines to 82 destinations. All three Chinese majors — Air China, China Eastern, China Southern — operate here, joined by Xiamen Air and the low-cost Spring Airlines, with a home-base presence from Loong Air. International and regional destinations include Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur. A single 10,499 ft (3,200 m) concrete runway (13/31) serves the terminal complex, which has undergone multiple expansions; T2, opened in 2019, is one of the more architecturally ambitious secondary-city terminals in eastern China. NGB is integrated into the Ningbo Metro via Line 2's Lishe International Airport station directly beneath the terminal, giving seamless rail access to the city center, the Ningbo Railway Station, and onward high-speed rail to Hangzhou and Shanghai. A second runway and further terminal expansion have been announced as part of the province's long-range airport plan.

Getting to the airport

Ground transport options from Ningbo

Public transportation

Ningbo Metro Line 2's Lishe International Airport station is built directly into the terminal, providing a fast, low-cost ride into central Ningbo and onward transfers across the metro system including Ningbo Railway Station. A network of airport shuttle buses supplements the metro, reaching neighboring cities such as Cixi, Yuyao, and Zhoushan — useful for the many business travelers visiting the port and manufacturing hinterland.

Taxis & rideshare

Official metered taxis queue at the arrivals-hall stand 24/7. The trip to downtown Ningbo typically takes 30–40 minutes and costs 60–80 CNY depending on traffic. Didi Chuxing is widely used as an alternative and is often easier for international visitors when paired with a translation-enabled destination pin.

Rental cars

Arrivals-hall desks for Avis, Hertz, China Auto Rental (CAR Inc.), and eHi provide the standard range of fleet options. As throughout mainland China, renting generally requires a valid PRC driver's license; International Driving Permits alone are usually insufficient. Chauffeured car services are a common workaround and can be booked on the same platforms.
